A large porch with a grill is a great place to hang out and enjoy one of the best views on the Island. Wildlife sightings include resident bald eagles often perching in the yard, fox, and deer. A private cabin nestled in the mountains of Cape Breton Island above the Margaree River & just off the Cabot Trail. The river is world famous for its salmon fishing, and we are only 30 minutes from world class golf courses or to the CB Highlands National Park. Also check out nearby beaches, Celtic music, incredible food... the list goes on. The cabin is small but it's quiet, clean, comfy and has all you need including washer/dryer, woodstove & A/C. A great location for exploring the island!

The Shackteau

A rustic cabin, right out of “Deliverance.” Inside, it's a well equipped clean and cozy retreat overlooking the world famous Margaree River. Margaree Forks is a great place to get away from it all, yet close to everything in western Cape Breton. I believe my happiest guests are those who are familiar with the camping lifestyle but now want something more comfortable. May 2024 a new futon is also available for guests who wish to sleep separately.
