Tejo and Beer in Bogota
Did you know that Colombia's national sport involves throwing a heavy disc to a course full of clay and explosives, while drinking beer? Well this sport is called tejo. I'll be waiting for you at a traditional tejo place where you'll learn about the history of this game, the rules and how to play it. We'll play tejo for about an hour, while drinking unlimited local beer, because in this sport the more you drink the better you'll perform. After the tejo game we'll head to a local craft beer pub where we'll talk about beer, each one of the ingredients and the beer making process. Here you'll have a tasting of the different style of beers produced at this local craft brewery and then have a glass of your favorite one. Carimañola Master Class-An African influence in Colombia
Colombian cuisine’s complexity requires hours to prepare and cook properly. The demand for quick meals has jeopardized the quality and authenticity of Colombian cuisine. This class takes you back in time when food was made for the family and taste was everything! The African influence in Colombia is not well known outside the country but is crucial to our story. Enjoying this experience allows you to learn the history and culture through 4 dishes. We hope the joy you gain from the class will encourage you to share the increasingly rare practices of traditional Colombian cooking. We will meet at a local house turned into a hidden factory of cassava products. The factory utilizes the cassava root to make Carimañola, Pastel de Yuca, Ají de Aguacate (Colombian Guacamole), and Jugo de Lulo. We will teach you how to pick the cassava root, which you will use that day. One delicious snack you’ll make using the cassava root is called Pastel de Yuca. Preparing the masa for the Pastel and frying it will be an adventure in itself! An exciting part to this experience will be learning from a local family. They will teach you different cooking techniques and the utensils required to make delicious food. In the end, you will wash down all this new knowledge and food with exotic juice. Show up with your stomach empty and your curiosity overflowing!
