Summer paradise by Göta Kanal

Gammalrud is a farm, which is located in the northern part of the peninsula, which goes into Lake Viken and is called Vika forests. Here we conduct forestry and lamb production since 1976. Surrounded by the beautiful forest, lake Viken (the highest point of Göta Kanal) and the hospitality of Thord and Ulla, this is your idyllic home away from home. We have renovated the old farm dairy, "Mejeriet", and made it into a nice home that we rent out to guests. The ground floor consists of a hallway, a kitchen suited for 8 persons and a large living room with a cozy fireplace. The living room floor is made of hand-made bricks from the old brickworks in the nearby village Horn. The upper floor consists of one large room with wooden floor and alcoves for 6 persons. At the old canal landing, we have built a large boathouse. Here is a place, not just for boats, but also for gatherings and parties. If you´d like to go fishing you are more than welcome to rent our small boat to try your luck catching pike, perch or any of the other fish in lake Viken. There is also a sauna in the Boathouse. Gammalrud is a farm dating back to the Middle Ages. A full list of previous owners dates back to 1498. In the 1600s, Gammalrud became a manor when the first corp de logi was built by Thord Jönsson Reuterberg. In the 1800s, Gammalrud became part of the Swedish industrial history by one of the owners, Theodor Winborg, also known as “Ättikskungen” , the founder of Winborg´s vinegar and later by his brother in law, Helge Palmqrantz, an inventor and industrialist with machine factories in Stockholm. Both agricultural tools and weapons were made there. A machine gun, designed by Helge Palmqrantz to be part of the defense on Karlsborgs fortress, can be seen at the fortress museum.

Holidays by the lake Unden

In the middle of West Götalands unspoilt nature with its lakes and forests, near the big lake Vättern, about 5 kilometers from the village of Undenäs and far away from any through traffic, the small country village of Igelstad is located, directly on the lake Unden. The village is a small collection of scattered houses and farms, of which some are permanently inhabited, while others are used as summer cottages. Here, in a large clearing in the forest, the small farm "Nolgården" is situated. The house is a separate, well-equipped classic wooden log house, built in spruce. It was thourougly renovated in 2008. There is a private bathroom, kitchen and private terrace, Internet connection (WLAN) and satellite TV (Astra). A cozy fireplace and electric heating provide comfortable warmth. Directly from the house you can make nice walks in the unspoilt nature, pick berries and mushrooms, or walk to lake Unden, one of the clearest and most pristine lakes in Sweden. From the house to the west side of the peninsula, there is only 800 meters. Here you can have a swim or enjoy the sunset over Unden. The eastern shore can be reached in quarter of an hour via a forest path. By the shore a canoe lies ready for extensive reconnaissance trips to the beautiful deserted islands and quiet bays. But the area has much more to offer: the romantic Tiveden National Park, Lake Viken, Forsvik and the Göta canal with its locks, and the huge lake Vättern are just a few examples of interesting destinations.

Well-equipped and fresh cottage by the smaller lake. Large terrace with dining area. Kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave etc. Large living room with sofa bed. Bedroom, shower room, separate toilet, washing machine, electric heating. TV, WiFi. Access to rowing boat and free fishing. Close to many other lakes and nice bathing areas. Cozy cottage near National Park

Take a break and unwind in this peaceful oasis. Nice lake view from the cottage and about 300 meters to swimming and barbecue area by the lake. Cosy cabin only 10 minutes by car from the famous Tivedens National Park. Amazing view to lake Unden, the largest fresh water lake in Tived. Fantastic to swim in when it's warm in the summer. Amazing sunsets and a very peaceful atmosphere. Romantic. The area straight down from the cabin by the water doesn't belong to the property but welcomes respectful visitors.

Idyllic cottage, 30 sq m, on a private beach, 10 m from the water. Ten minutes from the highway E4 and Gränna. Thirty minutes from Jönköping. One bedroom with a luxury bed for two and one room with a very comfortable foldable bed sofa for two and a kitchen area. Wood stove sauna, bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. The host lives in a house about 50 meters further away from the beach. The kitchen is for simple cooking, using a frying pan is not allowed, but charcoal barbecue is available.

Söker ni en lantlig miljö med fantastiskt utsikt över Vättern? Då har ni hittat rätt! Känner inte till många stugor i Sverige där man kan se tre olika län från en och samma plats. Stugan har det mesta då det kommer till bekvämlighet. Fullutrustat kök, bäddsoffa, dubbelsäng och badrum. Därtill wifi och tv med Netflix etc. Utomhus finns ett trädäck med grill, bord samt stolar och utomhuseldstad. Har ni barn i sällskapet finns ytor att springa runt på, gunga samt åka rutschkana.

The lake cottage

Welcome to our little summer paradise. For many years we have had this cottage as our "breathing hole". Nowadays we are pensioners and live on the farm from which this plot was cut down. The cottage is located by the lake Viken, own jetty, small rowing boat and raft included. A guest cottage with several beds and equally nice views but without comfort is also available. Own shallow beach with beautiful sunset. We live 4 km from the cabin.

The small guest house on our property is 20 sqm and contains most of the amenities you need for a few nights. The house is undisturbed at Bottensjön and around the corner there is amazing nature with a viewpoint over Karlsborg and proximity to water. Shower possibility is not available in the guest house, if we are at home, there is the possibility to shower in the dwelling house. Smoke and pet-free

Close to animals and nature.

Newly renovated year-round cottage with 2 rooms, kitchen. toilet, shower, and terrace. Up to 6 people live next door to the sheep yard and the forest and are welcomed by the farm's two sociable shepherds. At the sheep farm with its own farm shop you are close to the forest and lake. Tivedens national park, Karlsborg fortress, Göta Canal, Forsvik mill etc are some of the sights within 30 minutes drive.

Välkommen till denna avskilda och mysiga stuga med sjöutsikt över sjön Örlen. Stugan ligger ett stenkast från barnvänlig och välskött strand med bad- och båtbrygga. Här kan ni koppla av och njuta av lugnet, bada, fiska, promenera, cykla, plocka svamp.
